What is your role in Extreme 2001?

Although I will not be focusing on a specific research project or area while I am on the cruise, I will be working and assisting the other scientists on board with their own research interests.
I also will be working as one of two shipboard educational correspondents during the expedition. This entails capturing photo and video footage during the cruise and electronically posting and transferring the footage back to shore for uploading onto the Extreme 2001 Web site, which will be viewed by over 180 middle- and high-school classrooms around the United States and in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. My other responsibilities on the expedition include helping to develop additional interactive portions of the educational components of the expedition such as shipboard interviews, log reports, and constant communication links between the ship and the schools.
