Extreme 2002: Mission to the Abyss
Extreme Crew

Amir Ghadiri

Where are you from and what is your role in Extreme 2002?

I work for a company called Amersham Biosciences. It is a world leader in developing systems and solutions for disease research, drug discovery, drug development, and drug manufacture. Our 50,000 customers include pharmaceutical, biotechnology and agrochemical companies, as well as research institutes, universities, and medical research centers.

My interests are in the genomics of uncultivated microbes, as well as evolutionary and ecological genomics. I'll be assisting with the DNA analysis of vent bacteria collected during Extreme 2002.
