This Web site is designed
to provide the public with research-based information
about the horseshoe crab (Limulus polyphemus), a
major Mid-Atlantic resource. The site is a collaboration
of the Sea Grant programs in the Mid-Atlantic region,
led by the University of Delaware Sea Grant College
Program and funded by the National Sea Grant College
Program in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA), U.S. Department of Commerce.
Based at academic institutions
across the United States, the Sea Grant network encourages
the wise stewardship of marine resources through research,
education, outreach, and technology transfer. The nationwide
program serves as a partner and bridge between government,
academia, industry, scientists, and private citizens
to help Americans understand and sustainably use our
precious ocean and Great Lakes resources for long-term
economic growth and prosperity.
We are grateful to the numerous
