Marine Operations | Recreational Fishing Policy
Purpose:
To define recreational use of CEOE waterfront including all floating docks, fixed docks and bulkheads.
Policy:
- Fishing activities are limited to CEOE personnel, Lewes Plant Facilities' personnel, Lewes Public Safety personnel or other UD personnel requiring access for research purposes only. This includes all Lewes campus Delaware Bay River Consortium (M/V DelRiver) employees. Access is also limited to two accompanied family guests of the preceded mentioned.
- The following areas are off-limits to any fishing activities:
- All floating docks including the floats adjacent to the launching ramp, single float adjacent to the R/V Sharp bulkhead area and PEL area float.
- Recreational fishing cannot interfere with normal Marine Operations' activities including Coast Day (first Sunday of October). Public Safety officers and/or CEOE personnel have the right to ask for proof of University of Delaware ID and to ask the user to vacate the premises when safety/security is questionable or interfering where work, research or educational projects are in progress.
- Fishing users must leave area in its original condition or if damaged, by their use in any way, be restored to its original condition at their expense. Cleaning of fish and drinking of alcohol beverages will not be allowed around any docks, floats and parking areas on CEOE Lewes property. Trash will be disposed of in proper containers. After normal working hours restroom facilities will not be available.
- There will be no crab pots allowed off the CEOE docks, bulkheads or in the harbor of the Marine Operations' area.
