UD researchers help locate lost heroes from World War II

Dr. Mark Moline, director of the School of Marine Policy in the College of Earth, Ocean, & Environment at the University of Delaware, explains how UD’s underwater robotics technologies helped to locate lost heroes from World War II in Palau. Moline and a colleague at Scripps Institution of Oceanography began working with the non-profit BentProp Project in 2013. Moline’s scientific focus also has become personal. His grandfather’s scrapbook includes notes about an airman who went missing from the ship. BentProp is aware of the serviceman, and collectively they have been trying to find him over the last 20 years.
