Free bus shuttle service to and from Coast Day 2009 is being offered to University of Delaware students, employees, and members of their immediate families.
Coast Day will take place Sunday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine, at UD’s Hugh R. Sharp Campus in Lewes. Admission to the event is free.
Buses will depart from the Robinson Hall parking lot at the Newark campus at 9 a.m. and arrive in Lewes at approximately 11 a.m. They will depart from Lewes at 4 p.m. and return to Newark by 6 p.m.
Reservations are necessary to secure a spot and must be made by 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, by calling the Marine Public Education Office at 302-831-8083.
Coast Day events include a number of fun, educational activities focusing on the sea and on increasing public awareness of marine resources. This year’s theme, “Climate Change and Our Coast,” will show visitors how UD researchers are tackling one of the planet’s toughest environmental issues.
The event is hosted by the UD College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment (CEOE) and the Delaware Sea Grant College Program.
