Borja Aguiar Gonzalez

Post Doctoral Researcher

I am a physical oceanographer. I pursued the PhD in Oceanography between the Faculty of Marine Science at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research. My PhD thesis focused on the observational and theoretical study of wind-forced oscillations and strongly nonlinear tide-generated internal waves.

My research activities are mostly based on the combination of in situ and remotely sensed observations and theory, in addition to the occasional use of idealized numerical models. Currently, I'm working with oceanographic and atmospheric historical databases to investigate the role of the ocean heat supply in one of the fastest-warming regions on earth, the west Antarctic Peninsula. This research is conducted under the supervision of Dr. Carlos Moffat, Assistant Professor at the University of Delaware.
