Isolation and cultivation of novel marine microorganisms in conjunction with the isolation of natural products from these organisms. Detection methods for novel marine products especially using fluorescent based assays. Physiological responses of target organisms to naturally derived compounds.
My dissertation research is on the characterization, isolation and structure elucidation of the algicidal compound (IRI-160AA) produced by Shewanella sp. IRI-160, and its activity on harmful dinoflagellates.
I am currently looking for a postdoctoral research position for the fall of 2014. If interested please contact me at Kaytee@udel.edu
