Sharmayne Burns

Assistant Dean

Sharmayne Burns is the Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment (CEOE) at the University of Delaware.  She manages internal activities including human resources, budgeting, accounting, cost controls, office and administrative support functions and external activities including contract and grant management and liaison with academic and user groups that support and benefit from CEOE. She also provides general supervision and guidance for college operations, personnel, and fiscal management for both the Newark and Lewes campuses.

Sharmayne joined UD in 2010 and worked in the Budget Office for two years where she was involved in building the annual budget utilizing the University’s revenue-based budgeting system, distributing revenue to colleges, working with colleges and administrative units in managing their budgets, and providing budget guidelines for the University before transitioning to CEOE in July 2012. Prior to working at UD, she held analyst positions at Johns Hopkins University, Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children and JPMorgan Chase.

Sharmayne holds a MBA from the University of Baltimore, and a Bachelor of Science in Operations Management from the University of Delaware.
