Offshore Wind Power
The wind resource off the Mid-Atlantic coast is huge. If fully built-out, it could supply all electricity, all automotive power, and all building heat for the nine coastal states from Massachusetts to North Carolina, plus the District of Columbia--with enough left over to support a 50 percent increase in future energy demand. Our offshore wind group is a leader in analysis of this resource, the policies needed to lead states and the Federal government to tap this resource, public opinion of offshore installations, and the changes needed to best incorporate this type of fluctuating resource into our electrical systems. Our group combines oceanography, atmospheric dynamics, law and policy, sociology, and electrical system expertise.
