Bottom Depth Current, commercially-available mounts for offshore wind turbines (monopole towers) can be installed in water up to 20 meters in depth; some manufacturers say up to 30 meters. All depth colors on this map but the darkest blue are less than 21 m. Turbines can be designed for deeper waters, so this map's distinction between deep blue and all other colors limits us to considering only the resource for today's off-the-shelf machines, a tiny fraction of the exploitable resource.
